Coming Up....
Lent Course 2023 ‘Lightening the Load…’
‘Lightening the Load’ is a set of resources produced by the Diocese of Exeter. It is for the use of Mission Communities as they reflect on the joys and burdens of rural ministry, and consider how best to celebrate the former and lighten the latter.
You don’t need to do every session.
Time: Sessions will start at 7pm.
Location: St Mary’s Room in Gosforth Parish Church.
16th March - Session 1: Introduction and Celebration
A brief introduction to the resource, followed by an encouragement to celebrate our rural church life. You will be invited to reflect on what is life-giving about rural ministry.
23rd March - Session 2: Expectations
The expectations which weigh heavy upon clergy and laity alike in rural Mission Communities are a reality we need to face. But are they necessary?
30th March – Session 3: Organisation
If traditional ways of structuring our church life are beginning to buckle at the knees, what alternatives are there?
6th April – Session 4: Vocation
We are familiar with talking about the vocation of individuals. But do we ever consider the vocation of the community of faith, or indeed of the church building?
